NANO BANANA

What is Nano Banana? Choosing a Gemini image model for product work

Nano Banana is a name used for a family of Google Gemini image generation and editing models, not one fixed model. A useful comparison therefore starts with the exact gemini model ID and the date of the documentation.

Nano Banana is not one fixed model ID

Google's current documentation distinguishes Nano Banana 2 Lite, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro and an earlier Nano Banana generation. Benchmark claims are meaningful only when they name the exact model and test date.

Choose by ecommerce workload

Lite is positioned around speed and cost; Nano Banana 2 is a general-purpose generation and editing option; Pro targets more complex instructions and consistency. Google notes that Lite is not optimized for large reference sets or long editing chains.

Product consistency requires its own test

Character consistency is not enough for ecommerce. Repeat the same edit and compare product-critical details.

  • Product shape and brand color
  • Logo, label and volume text
  • Background-only edit behavior
  • Stability across multiple revisions

SynthID and publication review

Google states that generated images include SynthID. A provenance marker does not replace rights clearance, product-accuracy checks or marketplace-policy review.

Current SokuPhoto availability

Nano Banana models are not currently connected. The workspace lists Qwen Image 3.0, Qwen Image 3.0 Pro and Wan 2.7 Image as the available models.
